Moving can be so chaotic. This was the case for us and our journey to this home. Now that everything is in the appropriate room it belongs in, I like to take this next phase to tweak our spaces to meet our needs. Let’s use my
She is the youngest and inherently spoiled which I’m sure you gathered by all the toys. I noticed there are a few changes I could make to her room that will help her to keep it cleaner. Most children will have messy rooms from time to time, but I also believe if I can make
First off, Hayden has an adorable wallpaper from Anthropologie. Unfortunately, her bed is so big that you can barely see it. It also appears that it may be hard for her to make her bed due to its size. That’s no problem. We have an older daughter with a bed that is smaller in size and this seems like a great reason to swap the two.
Secondly, she has too many toys. Although the storage is in place, the shelves are overflowing and it may be time to bless the lives of others less fortunate. I also think if she has labels on her baskets, that could help her find what she is looking for. She is only 5 though and in pre-school so the labels will contain words and pictures. This will help her with her reading as well.
Here is a list of few other tweaks that should be considered.
- She likes to have her curtains open during the day but closed at night. Since its going to be hard for her to slide over the curtains at the top, it could help the room appear tidier if she had tie backs.
- She has asked for a lamp which shows me she wants her room to be pretty. Consider adding a small nightstand for the lamp. This will also hide her charger and could provide a bit more storage.
- She has the smallest room in the house. Consider painting it white so the room doesn’t feel quite so small.
- She has extra blankets in her room. Consider adding a coordinating throw blanket that she can keep at the foot of her bed or adding a warmer insert in her blanket.
- Upgrade her lighting. She has a small and ugly little light. Consider adding something a little larger to help fill the space with more light.
I think these small tweaks will make a big difference for her. We want her space to feel peaceful for her. Something she wants to come home to. Anything we can do to help her while maintaining her responsibility of cleaning her own room is a win/ win in my book.
