I’ve been eyeballing pumpkin centerpieces for quite some time. In my research, I learned you can use the foam or a vase inside the pumpkin. Please know that the foam does not allow for as much waster absorption and some flowers will not do well. I wanted my flowers to last a bit longer so I opted for a vase where I can add more water when needed and the flowers will be able to absorb as much water as they need. When using the vase, there isn’t quite as much control over the arrangement, foam provides more precision there. Choose what works best for your project. I spent $25 on my total project. I already had the tray, napkin and votives.
Supplies:
- Round tray
- One medium white pumpkin
- 2 small muted green pumpkins
- 2 small muted orange pumpkins
- 1 small bundle of greenery
- 1 small bundle of muted or white flowers
- 1 muted napkin (I used stripes)
- 2 small votives
- 1 small vase for inside of pumpkin
Instructions for pumpkin with flowers:
- Take your medium white and cut a whole in the top (big enough that your vase will fit inside if you choose the vase option)
- Clean out the inside of your pumpkin
- Place your vase in the pumpkin and add water in the vase
- Arrange your flowers in the pumpkin ensuring the ends of the flowers are in the water.
- Additional notes: when arranging, I place all my greenery before the flowers go in.
Instructions for centerpiece:
- Lay your napkin on your tray with your points running over the edge
- Add your large pumpkin with flowers towards the back
- Add your 4 smaller pumpkins to the front and sides rotating colors
- Add your votives and light your candles
- If you have any additional greenery left, you can add it below the largest pumpkin and allow it to overflow the sides of the tray.
